Yoga met een knipoog

Why, yoga met een knipoog? We’ll tell you why, but it requires a bit of yoga history. The rediscoverers of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga are Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois (no worries, remembering those names isn’t part of the OneFit house rules). They made a selection from the manuscript of six series, each consisting of 40 asanas (poses). The poses together form a flowing whole, flow in English and vinyasa in Sanskrit. This workout at Dananda is called Ashtanga Vinyasa met een knipoog, because teacher Daniëlle adjusts the series to the season. It is not the original series of Pattabhi Jois. It’s that simple! By the way, this workout lasts 1,5 hours instead of 75 minutes.

Dananda

Yogastudio Dananda certainly deserves a shoutout. Why? Because they made an amazing yoga studio out of a squat, in a very sustainable way. They’ve made use of old materials that have been given a new look as much as possible. As a result, the different rooms all have a unique appearance. Yeah, you should definitely take a better look at the floor during your child’s pose; it’s made of cork. Besides that, there’s a separate tea room with magazines, so you can relax before or after the workout and increase your knowledge about yoga with a cup of tea. That’s right, winter is not such a bad thing after all.
